ROCKFORD, IL — A new day care and early childhood education academy celebrated its ribbon-cutting on April 23, 2026, to officially mark its revival of the former Rockford Day Nursery site at 2323 S. Sixth St., Rockford, IL.
Rockford DayCare & Academy cut the ribbon in a ceremony with the Greater Rockford Chamber of Commerce, just across from J.L. Clark. The 12-classroom preschool center and day care started accepting enrollment for children ages 2 to 5 in late February 2026. It has a waitlist for its eventual expansion to care for infants and toddlers.
"It takes real courage to see a need in the community and to step in and try to fill it, and I can't think of a more worthy investment than our kids."
The year-round academy was founded by local educators Bryan and Amanda Amezquita. The facility fills a critical childcare gap in the Rockford community, offering structured early learning, nutritious meals, and flexible scheduling for working families.
Nate Jordan, managing partner of JPM Rockford, backed the venture as part of the firm's expanding childcare investment thesis — recognizing quality early education as a high-impact, community-driven asset class in the Greater Rockford Region.
The location at 2323 S. Sixth St. is strategically positioned in a densely populated Rockford neighborhood, addressing a documented shortage of licensed childcare seats in Winnebago County.
